Balance also comes from (svadyaya-self study). With practice we 'witness' ourselves, noticing when we are patient/persistent, what our likes/dislikes are, what we desire/what we repel. We learn when we react (emotional) we lose balance and when we respond (deliberate) we don't. This self observation brings clarity, and balance in our poses and life.

An ayurvedic note: Oiling your feet before bed can calm the nervous system and help you transition from your days activities to a restful state. Use almond or sesame oil and put on some fuzzy socks to protect your sheets and keep your feet warm. It also seals in your energy.
