Her Story (as told by Deb)
EEven as a kid I loved yoga! You could always find me sprawled somewhere with my yoga books in a deep stretch or backbend, or a head stand. I loved how yoga made me feel and wanted to share it with the world.
I could always find someone to teach, with five younger brothers.
At the age of 16 I taught group classes .
When I fell in love with dance, my yoga training served me well.
I made a living teaching fitness classes in my move from Canada to NYC .
Where I pioneered a career as a Personal trainer and becoming professionally certified as a 500 hr yoga Instructor.
I got hooked on science and my journey took me into Rehab Nursing. Working in a busy
Manhattan hospital (St Vincent's), I experienced all sides of the health spectrum. Nursing
provided insights into the need for a holistic and preventative health
perspective. Working as a nurse I felt behind the curve dealing with cases that could have been
prevented. And went back to my roots, in preventative care.
Becoming an Established Fitness Expert, earning a slew of credentials and passionate about prevention,
I attracted the attention of Manhattan elite and won physician affiliations.
Fitness empowered and lead me to a deeper search into healing properties of body work.
My ‘Metabolic Blast’ DVD, remains a favorite workout video for fans across
the U.S. and Canada. Fitness expressed my fire energies enhanced my
strength profoundly, though I lost flexibility in this pursuit.
Then I re-discovered yoga in classes.
10 yrs. of focus on fitness with little yoga, concluded with a devastating discovery.
I had lost a lot of my natural flexibility!
It felt as if I had never practiced yoga before!
Stiff joints made me feel old. Determined to win back my flexibility,
I resolved to leave strength training with a singular focus on yoga.
Three years of yoga practice, I gained back all of my flexibility and more! In my first 200 hr.
formal yoga training I acquired skills to teach asana and breath work and
acquainted myself with the depth and holistic benefits of yoga. My second
300hr training took me deeper into asana and tapped into the healing, meditative, mindful approach
As a Private Yoga Instructor, I transitioned private clients from
fitness into yoga’s nourishing benefits, causing fundamental transformations in their aligning body, mind, spirit
into connected wholeness and inner ease. In Yogas healing powers I continue to work with
private clients in Manhattan locations as well as on skype.
I'm always questioning and searching for what would enhance
clients experience to bring out their best. I recognised clients need to
discuss issues to work through them fully. Thus Wellness Coaching
evolved to continue to deepen the work. Coaching in conjunction with
the yoga complements and enhances the releasing of trauma, pain, anxiety and
stress freeing energy to reach goals and aspirations. As a testament to
the power of coaching and fast-acting benefits clients learn to use yoga's
neural response benefits in conjunction with breath, relaxing into all emotions
without judgement. To break through learned past conditioning that creates stuck
points in growth and evolution. When you love all your
emotions you can start to love yourself. This
comprehensive system stirs insights and allows clients to receive the benefits
of over 30 years of experience, study, practice, exploration and expense as they
transform their deepest challenges, fears and illnesses into a greater sense of
health, happiness, well-being into their authentic higher self.
As a Speaker and Writer for various blogs, radio shows,
health and spiritual web sites, and events, I’ve developed a wide
following of listeners and clients who I’ve been able to work with both in
groups and individually. It’s these transformative processes that make my
dedication to yoga life coaching my life passion.
